Yesterday morning, a few minutes after 600 AM, a tornado touched down at my house.
I had heard the weather news. They said that severe weather was moving in. I planned on showering and heading for the office so I wouldn’t have to be out in the rain when it got here.
It came so quickly! I had no clue. The power went off and it became very still. Suddenly, There came a wind. It sounded like a jet plane was sitting in my yard. I heard things breaking……….trees falling. I saw, in the shadow of the lightning, things flying by the house at tremendous speed.
And, just as quickly, it was gone.
But it had left the carnage behind. Broken fences…..broken yard ornaments and decorations…….trees, broken limbs and trash littered the property.
For a few moments during the storm I became very tense. That feeling passed as quickly as the tornado had and I’m OK.
Four years ago when the tornado hit my house it did structural damage. This time there is just a mess to clean up.
For a moment during the tornado I supposed that I was going up in a whirlwind.
I didn’t…..and I’m OK with that!
